Grayson Perry

He’s a household name and, arguably, the most popular living artist so a Grayson Perry exhibition is always a must-see.

Expect new works from the Essex-born maestro at his new display – Grayson Perry: The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever! – at The Serpentine Gallery. There’ll be everything from ceramics and tapestry to cast iron and print. As always it involves Perry’s clever commentary on issues of class, politics, history and sex.

Grayson PerryGrayson Perry: The Most Popular Art Exhibition Ever! is on until August

Keep an eye out for a centrepiece pair of provocative vases (pictured above) – one Leave, one Remain and decorated with images of Bowie, Farage, Churchill – starkly representing the country’s deep schism over the Brexit debate.

Another highlight is the Union Jack emblazoned ‘Head Of A Fallen Giant’. The terrifying bronze skull was molded as a shocking statement on the country’s Imperial past. Damien Hirst’s diamond encrusted skeleton this is not!

Perry said: “I am in the communication business and I want to communicate to as wide an audience as possible. Nothing pleases me more than meeting someone at one of my exhibitions from what museum people call ‘a non-traditional background.’

“The new works I am making all have ideas about popularity hovering around them.”
