This one’s for all you party-loving Guys and Dolls! The Candlelight Club is bringing an immersive night of high-kicking, all-dancing illicit frolics from the roaring Jazz age to London this May.

The Candlelight Club’s May Ball is a giant – and rollicking – step back in time to the sights, sounds and passions of the 1920s. Dressed up visitors can bop along to swing numbers from vintage jazz troupe Swing’It Dixeband, take in some colourful Charleston dancing from the Gatsby Girls plus enjoy music and variety shows in the intimate Cabaret Lounge.
If you’re hankering for historical hilarity there’ll also be a classic magic and mind reading display, foot juggling and art-deco burlesque. Oh, and if you’re not sure what your future holds, find out from fab fortune tellers Foxglove and Lucius!
The Club hosts a variety of regular shows in secret locations often set to a different theme. 2018 highlights include April’s Japanese-themed “Sakura in Old Tokyo” night and January’s Russian-themed show, plus a forthcoming rum-soaked 1920s Havana event in June.
Evenings are lit up by candlelight, hence the name.
Watch out for live music, burlesque, mind reading and Charleston displays!
“The emphasis is on fun, friendly frolics,” Candlelight Club organiser Clayton Hartley tells Skint. “I think there is something endlessly appealing about the 1920s. It seems such a glamorous, decadent and romantic era, with breath-taking fashions, recklessly energetic music, plus all the illicit thrill of Prohibition itself.
“Who should come down? Anyone who is looking for a different evening out and feels like stepping back into the 1920s for one night. It’s a refreshing antidote to the modern virtual world!”
