It’s the weekend! Whatever you’re up to, enjoy and stay safe. If you’re looking for ideas on the cheap – or FREE – you’re in luck!

If the kids need entertaining get arty at the Grant Museum of Zoology’s Creature Creations afternoon.

Little ones popping by the three-hour workshop are invited to make weird and wonderful animals and add it to the museum collection. Just remember to name your beast first!

Cato Street conspiracy

Transport yourself back 200 years with performers in period dress and even a FREE ride in an authentic vintage horse-drawn tram.

The Cato Street Conspiracy 200 Anniversary Event is marking the anniversary of the 1820 Cato Street Conspiracy when an audacious plot to murder the prime minister was discovered.

There’ll be traditional food and drink on offer to keep you sated as well as 19th century -styled magicians. Plus singers. Fancy dress harking back to the era is encouraged and there’s a prize for best outfit!

Snap up some new clobber at this weekend’s Joseph sample sale. There’ll be up to 80% off womenswear, menswear, shoes, bags and accessories.

Brands will include Joseph’s own alongside other brands they carry from Stella McCartney to Roland Mouret and Givenchy. All credit and debit cards accepted. Fatal!

Make time for a day of poetry readings, information stalls and writing workshops at the Free Verse: The Poetry Book and Magazine Fair.

Saturday’s event is totally gratis and there’s also a chance to meet and schmooze publishers who’ll be there with their own stalls.

This ones for all your bookworms; there’s a three day celebration of all things novel, tome and story this weekend with London Bookshop Crawl.

Back for its 5th year, the weekender is a celebration of all things wonderful about our capital’s independent book stores. Highlights include a FREE late lock-in a West Hampstead book shop, a FREE Hemingway book event in Brockley (featuring a Q & A with great granddaughter of Papa Ernie himself), a kids’ class on how to draw dinosaurs in Crouch End, plus story telling in Brixton. Fun for young and old.
